Aggregate Industries – Coalville, Leicestershire

A nature reserve created in the middle of the Birch Tree roundabout on the A511 Bardon Road as part of a national campaign to support the local wildlife and environment delighted the County Council.

The landscaping for the £100,000 nature reserve, now boasting over 20 varieties of wild flower that provide colour and attract insects and birds, was funded by Aggregate Industries.

It was officially opened by deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council with responsibility for highways transport, Nick Rushton, who commented: “We are delighted to see the result of landscaping work that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also of benefit to the local environment.

“This is a fine example how very substantial social and environmental benefits are gained when we work together with the County and District Councils for the ultimate benefit of all local stakeholders.”
